| Issue: | Menus Do Not Display When Returning to Scrolled Frame Page |
| Browser: | Opera 7.5 |
| Platform: | All |
| Description: | Menus may not
immediately display when returning to a scrolled page in a cross-frames
implementation. After scrolling (or even clicking) the content page, the
menus begin to display normally again. Please see Bulletin 10
for a more thorough description of the problem. |
| Discussion: | We first
identified this problem back in HierMenus 5.3.1.
At that time, we were able to come up with a work-around for the problem
that we added directly to the Opera HM code. See the 5.3.1 release notes
for a more complete description of the problem. Note that we've only seen
the problem in cross-frame scenarios; but it can effect both standard and
alternate cross-frame implementations.
While that work around was fine for Opera 7.21-7.23, (the root problem does
not seem to appear in earlier Opera 7.x versions) it does not, unfortunately,
work properly for Opera 7.5. Thus, the problem resurfaced with the
release of that browser.
The problem does not seem to appear in later Opera versions, however.
We currently have no other graceful work arounds for this issue. If you have
other suggestions please feel free to share them. Please use this link to
send mail if you have any further insights:
