Issue:Child Menus Sometimes Immediately Hide When Rolled Over
Browser:Opera 7/8/9
Platform:Windows
Description:When rolling quickly over a child menu, the child menu and its parent may immediately hide without warning.
Cause:In Opera, it is possible (though difficult to do) to fire events on a menu after its visibility has been toggled. So even though HM thinks a menu has been turned off, (and all the associated variables such as parent menu indicators, child visible indicators, etc. have been cleared), it is, in effect, still visible for a moment and will respond to its own item/menu rollovers. It is these rollovers that signal to HierMenus that the parent menu (which is no longer seen as the live parent of the child, but instead an entirely different menu tree) must be hidden. A split second later the child menu itself is hidden (the result of its visibility toggle in the first place).
Comments:No work around exists. Suggestions are requested. Please use this link to send mail if you have any insights and would like to share them:
